WHAT: SNAP, the “Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests,” and other child sex abuse victims and survivors will be celebrating “All Survivors’ Day” in Lafayette, LA.
WHEN: Sunday, November 3rd at 12:00 Noon.
WHERE: 515 Cathedral St, Lafayette, LA 70501
WHY: November third is international “All Survivors’ Day” for those who are victims and survivors of childhood sexual abuse;
- Lafayette is “Ground Zero” for the Catholic Church sex abuse scandal, originating in the 1980’s case of Gilbert Gauthe, who was protected by the church, with no regard for his victims, who is currently still living as a free man and has easy access to children to this day.
- We will be asking Bishop Deshotel to rescind his official letter that required all current Seminarians to disassociate themselves from “whistle-blower” organizations, specifically “The Society of Saint Peter Damian,” with the direct threat that they would be expelled from the Seminary.
- We will be asking Louisiana State Attorney General Jeff Landy to take creative and extraordinary action and measures to assist our surviving victims and survivors, so that they may know justice administered.
- Appealing to Governor John Bel Edwards to direct the Louisiana State Police to conduct a statewide investigation into the continued coverup of the Catholic Church in the State of Louisiana.
